The Pacific IWRM "Community to Cabinet" Approach Showcased by the Global Environment Facility Secretariat
21st March 2012: The saying "From Community to Cabinet" started here in the Pacific IWRM Project and last week the GEF Secretariat released a booklet at the World Water Forum with that very title. In commenting in the booklet on how GEF International Waters projects have helped to build capacity in national institutions, Dr. Al Duda said that: "I think the place I've seen this the most is in the Pacific Islands. I have periodically gone to the steering committee meetings for the Pacific Islands Integrated Water Resources Management Project which helps island nations to protect their surface and ground water supplies. To see all of the country managers try to outdo each other with solid presentations and real demonstration results makes one proud of their hard work. GEF country counterparts have such a desire to make real change happen to benefit their communities". Kudos to all Pacific IWRM country teams for this high-level recognition of your work!
